Speedy installation

A certified technician will install a Turo Go device in your car. Installation typically takes about an hour and a Turo Go specialist will help you schedule your appointment at a time that works for you.

Elegantly invisible technology

The Turo Go device uses technology that works by placing your second key fob — or a copy of your key fob — into a connected module, which plugs into your car’s diagnostics port.

Seamless check-ins

Whenever your car is available, approved guests can book it and go. The Turo app will help them find the car, prompt them to take pictures, and let them unlock the car.

THE PERKS OF EARLY ACCESS

Effortless verification

The nuts & bolts

Finding the car

Once your guest has found the car, they’ll be able to unlock it directly from the Turo app and will be prompted to document its condition, inside and out.

The device communicates with your car’s immobilizer to ensure it can only be started by you and your approved guests.

Unlocking the car

Before and after trips, you'll be able to locate your car via GPS. Location access is turned off for hosts during trips to honor guests' privacy, but rest assured that Turo can access this information, in case it's needed.

Locating your car

When the trip is over

Guests will be required to return the car where they picked it up, and they’ll leave the keys in the visor pouch where they found them, unless your car has a push-button start ignition that doesn’t have a physical key.

Guests will then be prompted to lock the car via the app and check out of the trip. You’ll still need to take post-trip photos within 24 hours of checkout to be eligible for your protection plan.

The need-to-knows

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The need-to-knows

Am I eligible for Turo Go?

To ensure the best five-star guest experiences, Turo Go is currently only available to top Turo hosts in Los Angeles. Make sure to check the Performance section of your Host Hub to see how you stack up; you can see the “Top hosts” threshold beneath your own stats.

Eligibility for Turo Go also depends on the make, model, and year of your car (model years 2012 and newer are more likely to be compatible; model years older than 2012 are currently incompatible with Turo Go technology), as well as the type of keys you have. Your car will also need to have a built-in immobilizer for security. Don’t worry if you don’t know what that means — immobilizers come standard in most newer cars.

The Turo Go device uses a new technology that works by placing your second key fob — or a copy of your key fob — into a connected module, which plugs into your car’s diagnostics port behind your dashboard.

How do I register for Turo Go?

If you and your cars are eligible for Turo Go, you’ll see a “Turo Go” tab in your Host Hub. Click or tap “Upgrade” and complete the registration form. A Turo Go specialist will be in touch to finalize the compatibility details and schedule your installation.

How much does Turo Go cost?

INSTALLATION

For each car enabled with Turo Go technology, you’ll pay a one-time installation fee that depends on the make, model, and key type of your car. You may need to pay an additional fee if you don’t have a second key fob and need a copy made. Check your eligibility to get a cost quote.

SUBSCRIPTION

After the early access offer ends, each Turo Go device costs $20 per month, which helps cover the costs of the device and its data connection. You’ll only be billed once the Turo Go device is installed in your car.

How does insurance & protection work for Turo Go trips?

Like all trips that you host on Turo, your Turo Go trips will be covered by your chosen protection package

The Turo app will prompt your guests to document the car’s condition thoroughly at the beginning and end of each Turo Go trip, so you should be eligible to file a claim in the event that something goes amiss. Turo recommends, however, that you check in on your car after each trip and take photos to ensure you’re eligible in case of claim.

Tips & tricks

Tips & tricks

Turo Go is a win-win for you and your guests — they get instant access, and you get (nearly) effortless earnings while you live your busy life.

However, the Turo marketplace still hinges on five-star hospitality and clean, well maintained vehicles, so check out these pro-tips to keep your reviews up and your business humming.

Check your eligibility

Check in on your car often

Check in after each trip to tidy it up and ensure everything’s looking as desired. Keep the inside clean, wash the outside monthly, ensure the gas tank is full, and make sure there are no check engine lights on or new damage incurred.

Communicate with your guests

Just because you didn’t meet them in person doesn’t mean hospitality is unnecessary. Message them through the app after they check in to make sure everything went well, and write a personal note in the welcome handbook provided in your Turo Go kit to remind them that this is your car and you’re still here to help.

Take photos after each trip

Turo will still require Trip Photos within 24 hours of the end of a trip to process a damage claim. After each Turo Go trip, even though the app will prompt your guest to take photos, we strongly recommend that you or a friend take photos of the car to ensure no new damage has occured.
